Meet the Staff – Gowdy Cannon

I am the pastor of the bilingual ministry of Northwest Community Church in Chicago. Our church is intentional in trying to bring English and Spanish speakers together in worship and community. My gorgeous wife, Kayla, and I have been married three years. I teach ESL (English as a Second Language) classes to adult immigrants in my community. I have been a student at Moody Theological Seminary in Chicago and Welch College in Nashville. I love The USC (the real one in SC, not the other one in CA), Seinfeld, John 3:30, Chic-Fil-A, Dumb and Dumber, the book of Job, preaching and teaching, and arguing about sports.

We are staff and we are legion.

I greatly fear the day I must meet Gowdy in a battle of feats of strength. If I managed to beat him, it would be a true Festivus miracle. And that day is coming, my friends, and I have a list of grievances as high as an elephant’s eye.

That khaki-wearin’, Spanish-spoutin’, do-gooder Cannon, he’s an okay fella, a regular Frank Costanza.

Gowdy is El Nino. All other tropical storms must bow before, El Nino. For those of you who don’t habla Espanol, El Nino is Spanish for…The Nino.
