I was one of the voters on this thing, and I don’t even agree with all the shows we picked. I don’t really have a nailed down top 10, but my list would include six from the list:
    Seinfeld
    Arrested Development
    Parks and Recreation
    The Cosby Show
    The Office
    Frasier

    I would probably include:
    M.A.S.H.
    Malcolm in the Middle
    Cheers
    Sports Night

My own list would look a lot like what we have here. I would put King of Queens and I Love Lucy in the place of Simpsons and Frasier. I haven’t watched The Simpsons very much so can’t really judge it and although I have always really liked Frasier, I like King of Queens and I Love Lucy a lot more.

This tournament, probably as much or more than any other we’ve voted on, did not match up much with my personal list. I had 3 the same – Seinfeld, AD and The Office. My other seven are listed in the other comment section but they are: Family Ties, Happy Days, Who’s the Boss?, I Love Lucy, Growing Pains, King of Queens and Scrubs.

  • Good list. Needs The IT Crowd.

It got some love from a few of our members. It didn’t advance far, mainly because very few of us had seen much of it.

You “zero” voters need to step up and put your name behind your vote. We won’t be mad. Honest.

I am guessing that the 10 “worst” votes are all or in great part the work of some charlatan donkey coward who will never fess up.

Well, we took care of that.

I am truly interested in hearing why people voted the way they did.

  • It’s not a bad list, but I think there is an unspoken time floor at work. I would at least consider things such as:
    Mash
    I Love Lucy

Then again, these aren’t sitcoms, but they were really quite comedic:
    Rowan and Martin’s Laugh-In
    The Carol Burnett Show
    The Red Skelton Show

M.A.S.H. and I Love Lucy received a lot of votes throughout the process. They just fell a little bit short of the top 10.

The Carol Burnett Show would have been a strong contender but it doesn’t qualify as a sitcom, unfortunately.

I’d have to replace one of these with Malcom in the Middle, but I’m not sure which one.

Amy, you are wise. So very wise.

I am not exactly sure what my final list would be, but The Simpsons and Frazier would not make my top 10. 30 Rock might not either. Everything else on the list would, as well as M.A.S.H.

I voted “good” because I did agree with at least 6 choices. Seinfeld, if not the best, would be near the top in my own personal poll. MASH and Cheers would definitely be additions I would include. Maybe Scrubs as well.

Now a confession: I had never watched Arrested Development until I saw the list. I’m just a few episodes in, and while I can’t yet say it is top 10, I can say that I would love to purchase a Cornballer.

Arrested Development made me laugh after the first few episodes but to me it really took off midway/towards the end of S1. By S2 I had to stop it because I was laughing so hard so often. Tobias, GOB, Buster and George Michael all could not be any better at their roles.

I must say again that I would not have watched Arrested Development had it not been for this blog. Thank you. Thank you very much.

Woo hooo! this group also inspired me and my wife to watch it and we are forever grateful. After 2 seasons we went ahead and bought the DVDs because we knew we’d want it forever.

If inspiring people to watch Arrested Development is all we ever accomplish with the site then it will all be worth it!
