Today is Ben Plunkett’s birthday. He is older than dirt. Just kidding. He’s almost as old as dirt. We jokingly refer to him as “The Ancient of Days”, though he is barely older than most of our contributors. Sadly, Ben is spending his birthday in a hospital. Perhaps you’ve seen it on social media, but Ben recently suffered a medical emergency, which resulted in broken bones and many other serious problems. We hate that he is having to “celebrate” his birthday in a hospital.
So, we decided to make today all about Ben. Many of our readers may be unaware of this fact, but Rambling Ever On would not exist without Ben. That’s not even counting his many contributions in writing new content. The very idea for Rambling Ever On was birthed in Ben’s crazy, genius brain. He saw this thing well before it was ever a reality, and it would have never become a reality without him. We figure that alone deserves a special shout-out and celebration. Coupled with this being his actual birthday (he’s turning 132, by the way) and his current medical situation, there is no better time than today to celebrate and honor him.
We have chosen to highlight a few of our favorite “Ben” articles. Ben has written or contributed to over 160 articles since we launched Rambling Ever On back in December of 2015. He is our main poet, giving us one beautiful poem after another. Seriously, we realize poetry is not everyone’s thing, but Ben’s poetry is amazing. You really should read them if you have been avoiding them up to this point. Throughout the day, you are going to see new articles shared from our social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). Check them out and share them with your online friends – to help us celebrate an awesome human being, a wonderful writer, and an amazing friend.
We would also like to point you to a Go Fund Me page that has been set up to help Ben with his rising medical costs. We don’t like asking for money for REO. But, in this case, it’s not for REO, it’s for Ben. And we have no problem asking people to be generous on his behalf. Give, pray, and send your well-wishes to him either on social media or in the comment section below. It’s all greatly appreciated.
Thanks for reading,
The Rambling Ever On staff.
