Epilogue (Considering Ecclesiastes)

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

Epilogue

And
We’ll glory in
earthly finalities.

We stand here,
our names growing
deeply entwined within the
branching hands of life –
the skin of this tree much like
swirling, silver rope.

Some seek
to reach
God’s light,
and grow gowns
that shine
for eternity;

their
green tops
twirl.

The others,
they are happily
rotting
and singing
to their
falling branches.

But God’s leaves,
they
glow.

There’s nothing better
than for forests
to worship Him,

and to
bend to
His shine.

God’s Son, He reaches down;
He is forever watchful like the sun’s yellow
beams making their rounds.

When he commences photosynthesis,
We’ll
bow,
and prepare for Autumn –
for all ends,
we’re homeward driven.

Behold how
the
sky is changing;

it
transforms,
and
shapes
shift in
its clouds.

So we’ll grow
and we’ll
talk,
and grow,
and
talk.

We’ll
stand
watching, waiting, worshiping.

And then
— a pause.
